About us The P.W.G. Computer group had it's inception approximately 10 years ago, when a few members bought computers and on enquiring about "Tafe" courses, decided they were a bit pricey. From this a small self help group was born, meeting every Wednesday at 10.00 A.M. at the guild, bringing their individual computers and monitors. The setting up was quite an operation. As time went by, the numbers grew and spare monitors were aquired. It was decided that the hours be extended from 9.30 A.M. till 12.00 Noon. I joined this group on 291h of March 2000 and up to the present time, I have attended 375 sessions. Most of these started with "Questions and Answers". A problem solving exercise. Then there would be a demonstration by one of the group, and on occasions a guest demonstrator. The subjects covered were many and varied, from the simple to the intricate and quite often with a printed handout prepared by the demonstrator. There were also special sessions for people to understand and master certain programs. This group has been responsible for "The Newsletter", our "Member Address Book", and "Catalogues", for our exhibitions. The exchange of ideas and skills, has been a great benefit to all of us. Recently, newer members have met privately, with one of the more accomplished members, to assist in some of the basics with their own computer. We have now progressed to a mounted projector and with a full size screen, can accommodate our audience of 15-20 with ease. As the world of Information Technology continually progresses and expands, our group looks forward to on-going learning and skill sharing.
